Gloves arrived today,pretty disappointing though. On opening the relatively simple packaging I find that the stitching on the Velcro wrist strap has come undone. The glove looks and feels robust but I doubt it will last,especially if the stitching doe's not hold when it is still in the packet.

These gloves have had some bad press on the reviews here so I wanted to add my ten-cents.

I'm an avid gym-goer and have been for 6 years, I consider myself committed to this as my sport and train 4 times a week.

I have always used Golds gloves because thats what I started out with, and in more recent years no gloves at all which has all but destroyed the skin around the ball joint on each palm.

At my gym 2 months ago I picked a pair of these up on a whim to help with my one-handed tricep extension grip - what an excellent product.

The gloves are heavy, the rough leather palm has yet to tarnish and the wrist support is great for bench work. I have large'ish hands but got the medium as I dont like the glove to slip between the weights and my palm, and they've stretched just right without distorting.

They won't last forever, none do, but as far as gloves go, very good indeed.

On the positives the gloves are well made, have a good asthetic and seem to be very durable.

But when compared to Golds gloves and Valeo/ Sheik Ocelots they are uncomfortable and seemed to have been designed with a very limited understanding on the shape of a human hand, digging in around the finger holes and calousing these areas.

I thought that the `Mens Thinsulate Capped Fingerless Thermal Gloves' were very good value for money. This was the first time I had heard of Capped Fingerless Gloves and was not sure how they would appear before I had received them. Once I had tried them on, I thought `how neat!' The way in which the capped portion can be detached and then swung around to settle on the back of the hand is very convenient. I happen to use Public Transport on occasion and find that the capped portion serves as a convenient pouch for my bus ticket, whilst the weather is cold, which saves fumbling through my wallet as the bus approaches the bus stop. The same can apply to loose change for a convenient purpose.

As a design improvement, I would suggest that the Velcro patch on the reverse side of the hand covers a larger area, which should provide a more secure hold on the capped portion which can sometimes become detached and `flap around' which can look awkward in a public setting, before refastening.

The gloves themselves are certainly thick enough for British Winter weather and very comfortable. The capped portion simulates a design otherwise associated with `mitt gloves' which creates a warm pocket with sufficient freedom to allow finger movement. The actual length of the glove allows the wrist portion to be either `turned over' to reveal a stylish edge with the company name of Thinsulate showing itself distinctive in white, or otherwise turned straight to ensure a more thorough covering to prevent cold weather air travelling upwards along the fore-arms.

I am sure that these `Mens Thinsulate Capped Fingerless Thermal Gloves' will be a welcome present for winter warmth this Christmas.

The price is good for a warm pair of fingerless gloves. Thinsulate works really well. My only gripe is that the "mitten" cover is not thinsulate So are not as warm as they could be for just a few more pence.

I have been using these gloves for a month now and they are just about the best I have used - certainly in terms of durability - I tend to go through gloves quickly and there are no signs yet on these gloves.

They are comfortable and provide the required support / cushion when benching etc.
